Charles Griffin (1825-1867)
Charles Griffin graduated West Point in 1847. In April 1861 he was made a captain in the 2nd U.S. Artillery. He saw duty at 1st Bull Run. In June 1862 he was appointed brigadier general of volunteers and fought at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Petersburg, and Appomattox. In April 1865 he was promoted major general of volunteers.
