James H. Hackett (1800-1871)
Actor James H. Hackett made his 1826 New York debut at the Park Theatre. In 1827 he became the first U.S. actor to appear abroad when he performed at Covent Garden. Both Abraham Lincoln and John Quincy Adams corresponded with him about Shakespeare's tragic characters. Hackett was best known for his Falstaff.
