Lucy Lambert Hale (1842-1915)

Lucy Hale was the daughter of John P. Hale who was a United States senator from New Hampshire. Lucy Hale was secretly engaged to John Wilkes Booth at the time of Lincoln's assassination. A photo of her was found in his wallet. Her father, an abolitionist, was preparing to take her to Spain, to separate her from Booth, when Lincoln was shot. She later married William E. Chandler of New Hampshire.
