George W. Hendee (1832-1906)

George Whitman Hendee was a representative from Vermont. He was a member of the Vermont state house of representatives in 1861 and 1862. During the Civil War he served as deputy provost marshal. Hendee was a member of the State senate from 1866-1868. He was elected lieutenant governor of Vermont in 1869 and also served as governor. He was elected as a Republican to Congress (1873-1879).
