Patrick Henry (1736-1799)

In March 1775, in an extra-legal meeting of the Virginia Assembly, Patrick Henry gave his most famous and influential speech, shocking the House of Burgesses into action. "Give me liberty, or give me death!" was his legendary cry. This is an engraving after a painting by Alonzo Chappel.
