William Henry Herndon (1818-1891)
William Henry Herndon was Abraham Lincoln's law partner in Springfield, Illinois. He was considered Lincoln's right-hand man: he took care of details while Lincoln rode circuit. In 1881 Herndon and Jesse Weik began their great three-volume biography, "Herndon's Lincoln: The True Story of a Great Life," which was published in 1889.
