Edward H. Higgins
Edward Higgins was a brigadier general in the Confederate Army. Commanding Forts Jackson and St. Philip, he was forced to surrender when the North captured New Orleans. He was soon exchanged. Higgins commanded the batteries over the river at Vicksburg. When Vicksburg fell he was again captured and exchanged in October 1863. He was then named brigadier general.
