Garret A. Hobart (1844-1899)

Garret Augustus Hobart was vice president under McKinley. A successful businessman, Hobart had earned a fortune by 1895. In 1896 he received the nomination for vice president. He was very active as president of the Senate and influential in his relations with McKinley, restoring respect for the position of vice president.
