Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. (1809-1894)
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., was a poet, physician, and a medical educator at Harvard. In his energetic and self-confident pursuit of multiple careers, Holmes is a representative figure of nineteenth-century America. This is a copy from a drawing by Jacques Reich after a daguerreotype taken in 1850. Jacques Reich made the drawing for Holmes.
