Robert Frederick Hoke (1837-1912)
Robert Frederick Hoke was a major general in the Confederate Army. While he was in independent positions, leading his own division, Hoke was an effective leader, but he was not capable of cooperating with other leaders. He was appointed major general in April, 1864, but at Bermuda Hundred and Cold Harbor he could not work together with others in joint operations. Under Johnston, Hoke surrendered to the Union Army.
