Charles E. Hooker (1825-1914)
Charles Edward Hooker was a colonel in the Confederate Army and a U.S. representative from Mississippi. He resigned the Mississippi State house of representatives to join the Confederate Army. Promoted to the rank of colonel, he was elected attorney general of Mississippi in 1865. At the end of the war he was removed from office by military authorities. Hooker was elected as a Democrat to Congress (1875-83, 1887-95, and 1901-03).
