Gilman Marston (1811-1890)

Gilman Marston was a brigadier general of volunteers and a United States representative from New Hampshire. He was commissioned in New Hampshire as a colonel in 1861. He was quickly promoted to brigadier general of volunteers (November 1862). Wounded several times, he resigned in April 1865. He was elected to Congress for one term (1865-67) and appointed to the U.S. Senate to fill a vacancy in March 1889.
