Robert Green Ingersoll was a lawyer and orator. Ingersoll became famous for his speeches on his agnosticism. A would-be politician, Ingersoll was a great stump speaker but never elected to office. His orations were so witty and intelligent that even those who hated him came to listen. He was the brother of Congressman Ebon Ingersoll.
