Thomas J. (Stonewall) Jackson (1824-1863)
A graduate of West Point, Stonewall Jackson became a lieutenant general in the Confederate Army. The commander and his brigade were nicknamed "Stonewall" at 1st Bull Run, where they distinguished themselves on the field by standing "like a stone wall." After many brilliant successes, he was accidentally shot by his own men during the battle at Chancellorsville in 1863.
