Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)
Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States. Jefferson was the author of the "Declaration of Independence," the secretary of state under Washington, and vice president under Adams. The Louisiana Purchase was the great achievement of his presidency, doubling the size of the country. This carte de visite is an engraved portrait of Jefferson.
