Oliver Johnson (1809-1889)
Oliver Johnson was an anti-slavery leader and editor. In 1832 Johnson was one of the twelve founders of the New England Anti-Slavery Society. For the rest of his life he was a reformer, interested in women's rights as well as in the antislavery movement. He was editor of such newspapers as "The New York Weekly Tribune" and "The Evening Post."
