"The Terrace" in Central Park, New York City
"The Terrace" in Central Park, New York City, was planned in 1858 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the creators of the Park to overlook the Lake. The famous Bethesda Fountain, on the lower Terrace, was the work of Emma Stebbins, the first woman to receive a commision for a major public sculpture in New York City.
