George R. Latham (1832-1917)

George Robert Latham was a brevet brigadier general of volunteers in the Union Army and a U.S. representative from West Virginia. A captain and a colonel during the war, he was brevetted afterward for war service. He was elected as an Unconditional Unionist to Congress (1865-67). From 1867 to 1870 he was U.S. consul to Melbourne, Australia.
