John H. B. Latrobe (1803-1891)
John Hazlehurst Boneval Latrobe was a writer, lawyer and inventor. He studied engineering at West Point. In his law practice he specialized in patents. He invented the popular Latrobe stove, which fit into the fireplace and heated two rooms. He wrote works of jurisprudence as well as poetry.
