John Davis Long (1838-1915)

John Davis Long was the governor of Massachusetts, a U.S. congressman, and the secretary of the Navy under William McKinley. Long was a graduate of Harvard, an author, poet, translator, and the advocate of a number of reforms including prohibition, woman's suffrage, world peace, and the abolition of the death penalty.
