Edward O. C. Ord, Mrs. Ord, and Daughter

Mary Mercer Thompson married Edward O. C. Ord in San Francisco in 1854. They had two sons and one daughter. Edward Otho Cresap Ord (1818-1883) was a major general in the Union Army. In this photo after the Civil War, he is with his wife, Mary Mercer Thompson, and his only daughter, in Appomattox. They sit in front of the table where General Lee signed his surrender.
