"The Storming of the Bastille, July 14, 1789"
The Bastille was a French prison, and a symbol of the absolute monarchy of France. When the angry mob finally got inside the Bastille during the French Revolution, prisoners were released, and the Governor of the Bastille, Bernard de Launay, was captured. Two days later, the old prison was burned to the ground.
