This is the camp of General Zachary Taylor's soldiers near Corpus Christi in Texas during the Mexican War. The hand-colored lithograph was sketched by Captain Daniel Powers Whiting from life. It is part of a series of prints by Whiting entitled "Army Portfolio" which was engraved by Charles Parsons and published in 1847 by George and William Endicott.
