"Battle at Churubusco"

This print by Carl Nebel depicts the Army of the United States, led by Major General Winfield Scott, entering Mexico City on September 13, 1847, to conclude seventeen months of armed combat between neighbors. The hand-colored lithograph was engraved by Bayot after a drawing by Nebel as an illustration for George Wilkins Kendall's 1851 book "The War Between the United States and Mexico Illustrated."
