Stephen A. Douglas (1813-1861)

Stephen Arnold Douglas was an American politician who served as a U.S. representative and senator from Illinois. He engaged Abraham Lincoln in a series of famous debates during his campaign for U.S. senator in 1858. This is a copy of a daguerreotype of Douglas as a fairly young man.
