Charles Daniel Drake (1811-1892)

Charles Daniel Drake was the leader of the Radical Republicans in Missouri and was elected as a U.S. senator in 1867. Drake resigned this position in 1870 to accept an appointment from President Grant as chief justice of the United States Court of Claims, where he served until his retirement in 1885.
