Benjamin Silliman (1779-1864)

Benjamin Silliman was a professor of chemistry and natural history at Yale College from 1802-1853. He was the most prominent and influential scientific man in America during the first half of the nineteenth century. Silliman was the author of "Elements of Chemistry" (1830-31).
