Caleb Blood Smith (1808-1864)

Smith was secretary of the interior, a congressman and lawyer. He was elected U.S. Representative from Indiana as a Whig (1843-1849). Smith was appointed by President Lincoln to be secretary of the interior and served in his cabinet from 1861 to 1863.
