William P. Smith
Colonel William P. Smith was an engineer in the Confederate Army. He was in Featherston's brigade at Williamsburg in May, 1862, and was wounded at Seven Pines in June, 1862. Smith fought under Jubal Early at Gainesville in August, 1862, and again at Chantilly, in September, 1862. At Chancellorsville, in April, 1863, Smith was in charge of reconnoitering the enemy and restricting batteries. Smith fought under Pendleton's command at Gettysburg in June, 1863.
