Anson G. McCook (1835-1917)
Anson George McCook was a lawyer, politician and publisher. One of the "Fighting McCooks of Ohio," he was a captain in the Second Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He was brevetted brigadier general of volunteers. He founded the Law Journal, and became president of the New York Law Publishing Co. McCook was elected as a Republican to represent New York in the U. S. House of Representatives (1877-1883).
