Edmund Clarence Stedman (1833-1908)
Edmund Clarence Stedman was an American poet, critic, and editor, who was a highly esteemed member of the New York literary circle of his day. He had to support himself by opening a brokerage firm on Wall Street. A popular poet, he began a reevaluation of American poetry, writing "A Victorian Anthology" and an "American Anthology."
