George Washington Custis Lee (1832-1913)

George Washington Custis Lee, Robert E. Lee's eldest son, was a major general in the Confederate Army. He graduated at the head of his class at West Point in 1854. Most of his war service was as aide-de-camp to Jefferson Davis. He followed in his father's footsteps as president of Washington College (later known as Washington & Lee University).
