George D. Prentice (1802-1870)

George Dennison Prentice was an American newspaper editor and journalist. His paper, the "Louisville Daily Journal," became the most influential Whig paper in the South and the West. Even though Prentice was induced to support the South during the Civil War, he held to a strong Unionist stance (although he was not an abolitionist).
