Frederick E. Prime (1829-1900)
Frederick Edward Prime was a brevet brigadier general in the Union Army. An engineer, he built fortifications and in 1861 he was captured by the Confederate Army. Promoted to captain, he became chief engineer for the departments of Kentucky, the Cumberland, and Ohio. Wounded and captured again, he was released and fought with Grant. Promoted to major in 1863 he was appointed brigadier general but declined. After the war he was brevetted for Corinth, Vicksburg, and war service (brigadier general).
