Edmund Quincy (1808-1877)
Edmund Quincy, son of Josiah Quincy, was an abolitionist and author. He shocked the genteel world of his family by joining several abolitionist groups. He also became an editor of papers such as the "Abolitionist" and the "Anti-Slavery Standard" and contributor the "New York Tribune" and the "Albany Transcript." Quincy wrote fiction and biography as well. His short stories were humorous and graceful. With his sister, Eliza Susan Quincy, he wrote an outstanding biography of his father and edited his speeches.
