N. G. Ordway (1828-1907)
Nehemiah George Ordway, who was from New Hampshire, was governor of Dakota Territory from 1880 to 1884. The highlight of his administration was the tremendous growth in the territory's population, which doubled between 1879 and 1884. Ordway was indicted on corruption charges in 1883. He underwent a criminal trial in 1884 and was removed from office by President Arthur.
