Nelson Taylor (1821-1894)

Nelson Taylor was a brigadier general of volunteers in the Union Army. After fighting in the Mexican War he moved to California and became a politician. During the Civil War he was promoted to brigadier general (September, 1862), but left the army in January, 1863 and served as a U.S. representative from New York (1865-67).
