Charles Pomeroy (1825-1891)
After practicing law in his home state of Connecticut, Charles Pomeroy moved to Iowa. There he served as receiver of the United States land office at Fort Dodge, Iowa, from 1861 until March 1869. He resigned when he was elected as a Republican to be the U.S. Representative from Iowa and served until 1871.
