Edward E. Potter (1823-1889)

Edward Elmer Potter was a brigadier general of volunteers in the Union Army. In 1862, while farming in New York, he was commissioned captain of the Commissary of Subsistence for Volunteers. Potter raised an African-American regiment, for which he was named brigadier general.
