Isaac Rich (1801-1872)
Isaac Rich was a wealthy Boston fish merchant. His business flourished and he went into navigation and shipbuilding. Rich was one of the incorporators of Boston University in 1869, endowing it with property. He was a trustee from 1869 until his death. Rich was a Methodist, like the other founders of Boston University, which began as a seminary for training Methodist ministers.
