Ferdinand A. Palmo (1785-1869)
Ferdinand A. Palmo was an entrepreneur and impresario. He decided the public was starved for Italian opera and renovated the Arcade Baths into the New York Opera House. It opened in February, 1844, with "I Puritani." It was deserted by 1847, and Palmo's fortunes disappeared in disaster.
