Lucien-Anatole Prevost-Paradol (1829-1870)
Lucien-Anatole Prevost-Paradol was a journalist and literary critic. He was elected to the Academie Francaise in 1865. The election was bitterly contested because he was young and had few publications. He was named minister to the U.S. in 1870. He shot himself with a revolver when war was declared between France and Prussia.
