Henry W. Slocum (1827-1894)

Henry Warner Slocum became the second youngest major general within a little more than a year in the Union Army. He graduated from West Point in 1852. Severely wounded at 1st Bull Run, Slocum was appointed brigadier general of volunteers in August, 1861. Slocum was made major general a few days after the Seven Days' Battles. Slocum settled in Brooklyn after the war and was elected as a Democrat representative to the U.S. Congress for three terms (1869-73 and 1883-85).
