George H. Pendleton (1825-1889)
George Hunt Pendleton was a "Peace Democrat" or "Copperhead" who served (1857-64) as the U.S. Representative from Ohio during the Civil War. Pendleton was the president of the Kentucky Central Railroad from 1868-79. He was elected to the U.S. Senate (1879-85) and was later appointed the U.S. minister to Germany by President Cleveland.
