Balie Peyton (1803-1878)

Balie Peyton was a U.S. representative from Tennessee. He was elected as a Jacksonian to one term and as a White Supporter to one term (1833-37). He moved to New Orleans in 1841 and became U.S. attorney for the eastern district of Louisiana. President Taylor appointed him as minister to Chile from 1849 to 1853. This is a photographic print of a daguerreotype.
