Henry W. Morris (1806-1863)
Henry W. Morris was a commodore in the U.S. Navy. He entered the Navy in 1819 and served on the African coast and the Mediterranean. He supervised the construction of the "Pensacola" (which was equipped with twenty-three guns) and commanded it during Farragut's capture of New Orleans in April 1862. He was promoted to commodore in July, 1862 and died while on active duty.
