George Willard (1824-1901)

George Willard was a U.S. representative from Michigan. Ordained as an Episcopal minister, he served as rector in several churches in Michigan. From 1863 to 1872 Willard was regent of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He was elected as a Republican to two terms in Congress (1873-77). Willard finished his days as editor and owner of the "Battle Creek Journal."
