James Grant Wilson (1833-1914)

Born in Scotland, James Grant Wilson was a brevet brigadier general of volunteers in the Union Army, an editor and an author. He was brevetted for war service. Wilson edited periodicals and coedited the famous "Appleton's Cyclopedia of American Biography." He was the author of numerous historical and biographical works.
