William L. Wilson (1843-1900)

William Lyne Wilson was a Democratic U.S. congressman from West Virginia from 1883-95, postmaster general from 1895-97 under President Grover Cleveland, and the president of West Virginia University at Morgantown and then Washington and Lee Universities. During the Civil War he served in the Confederate Army as a private in the Twelfth Virginia Cavalry.
