Montgomery C. Meigs (c.1816-1892)

Montgomery Cunningham Meigs was a brevet major general in the Union Army. He was graduated from West Point in 1836 and was a peacetime engineer. Meigs was appointed brigadier general and quartermaster general in May 1861. He executed these challenging tasks with excellence. He was brevetted major general of the regular army in July 1864.
